Daphne Snorkeling Tour

Daphne Snorkeling Tour

The Daphne Mayor Rock is located off the north coast of Santa Cruz Island, formed through the interaction of the sea with successive volcanic explosion lava. This islet is a tuff crater, without the presence of trees in the area, making it an ideal site for the nesting of birds such as Nazca boobies, blue-footed boobies, seagulls, and tropical birds that place their nests at ground level or in rocky cavities

For the snorkeling tour, the selected location is Daphne Major, while Daphne Minor is only visited by diving vessels. Daphne Major is a 20-minute boat ride from the Itabaca Channel, situated north of Santa Cruz Island. Daphne is a nesting site for birds, where blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, frigates, tropical birds, and seagulls can be observed. Additionally, it is one of the best snorkeling sites departing from Santa Cruz Island. During snorkeling, giant manta rays, groups of golden rays, blacktip sharks, whitetip sharks, and various colorful fish and starfish can be seen.

The snorkeling tour to Daphne also includes a visit to the "Piedra Ahogada," an excellent spot for experiential fishing, and adjacent to the rock, there is good snorkeling with sea lions and colorful fish. As a resting point on the snorkeling tour to Daphne, Bahía Borrero Beach is visited—a beach with golden sand where visitors can relax and appreciate the surrounding landscape
